The Dolomites are all about the views. It’s no wonder they’re an UNESCO heritage site. You’re definitely going to fall in love with this place. It happened to us a few years ago and we kept coming back every year afterwards, to discover new trails and adventures.
In this summer trail camp, we’ll be running on some of the most scenic routes of the Dolomites, showering under waterfalls, and energizing with italian coffee at beautiful chalets up in the mountains.
We’ll enjoy the peacefulness of the wide valleys, the beautiful red sunset over the limestone Tre Cime peaks, and the solitude of the alpine valley lakes.
The immensity and uniqueness of this place will make everything else seem small and unimportant. It’s a place where you’ll certainly feel connected to nature and be reminded of what matters most in life.

Favorite Secret Spots

Ever since we first visited the Dolomites, we kept coming back every year. First, we went there cycling the famous mountain roads and hiking. Then, we came back with friends every year to run new trails and race the Lavaredo Ultra Trail.
We picked our favourite mountain running, leisure, and food experiences in the South Tyrol area for this camp and we can’t wait to share them with you.

Our accommodation
We’ll be staying right in the heart of the adventure.
The area of Cortina d’Ampezzo is renowned for skiing in the winter and for running, cycling, and climbing in the rest of the year.
We chose a beautiful and perfectly located hotel close to all the trails we’ll run. There are numerous top rated restaurants close by, serving Italian dishes, but also with the obvious Austrian influence.

Schedule
On arrival day we’ll meet in the Venice Airport and embark on our private van for a transfer to our hotel in Cortina d’Ampezzo. We’ll have dinner, meet the other runners in the camp, and then have a briefing about the days of adventure ahead.
We’ll start the day with the breakfast at our hotel and then have a short briefing about our daily schedule and route. Our goal today is to do a route recognition on the best part of the Lavaredo Ultra Trail. Later on, we’ll get some personalized tips on running technique improvement and we have the rest of the afternoon free, until dinner time.
We start with an early breakfast. Today is a day for spectacular views. Be prepared to fall in love with the scenic route that we’ve picked. In the afternoon, Carmen will talk to us about creating those healthy habits that we need in order to feel and perform our best. As soon as the workshop end, it will already be dinner time.
After breakfast and the daily briefing, we’ll head out on our last day of trail adventure. We still have a lot to see around. In the afternoon we’ll relax by tasting some local wines, and then we have some free time for the swimming pool or the spa until dinner.
We’ll meet at breakfast and after that we’ll have our Camp Closing Meeting. We’ll be sore, but happy 🙂 Our private van will then take us back to Venice Airport, in time for our flights.
About us
We’re those enthusiastic trail runners who left the big cities and moved to the mountains just to get to do what they love more often.
If you also forget the time when you’re in nature, love to spend quiet time on the mountains, days of adventure and running on trails, then you’re in the right spot.
Trails and Tales is the place we created to share stories from beautiful trails with you and others who share the same passion. The trail running camps we organize are also a way of sharing our favourite trails, the lessons that we’ve learned, and the passion that we have for the mountains.
Ever since we first visited the Dolomites, we kept coming back every year. We ran there on our own, with our friends, then in the Lavaredo Ultra Trail, and we also crossed cycling the most famous roads around off our list.
We picked our favourite mountain running and food experiences for this camp and we can’t wait to share them with you.

Carmen Albisteanu
Certified Nutrition Coach // Trail Runner
My two passions are trail running and traveling. By running and hiking in the mountains, I get to see so much more than the regular tourist attractions. I lived in Barcelona for a few years and the Pyrenees were one of the reasons why I chose Spain. Mountains are where I feel at home, and nature is my playground, my constant source of joy.

Andrei Tale
Mountain Runner // Adventurer
Competing and maybe even winning a race makes it a good day out there on the trails. But what makes it perfect? Living a memorable adventure that lasts forever, spending as much time you can get in nature with your friends or watching the sunset high up in the mountains late in the evening. You only live once, but if you do it right, once is enough.

FAQ
Frequently Asked Questions
The Scenic Dolomites Trail Running Camp is for runners of all levels. Those who are faster can challenge themselves on different segments or cover a longer distance, but we’ll always regroup and nobody will be left to run alone. Just remember that this is rather a camp for active holidays, exploring, having fun, and not a performance training camp. We have other events for that.
The price of this 5 day camp is 899 € until 10th of March 2020, or 999 € between March 10th and May 10th. Your booking is secured by first making a deposit of 250 €, after which you have time until the 10th of May 2020 to pay the remaining balance. Read more about our booking confirmation and refund policy HERE.
You can contact us if you want to extend your stay after the camp is finished or if you want to arrive a few days earlier. We can help with accommodation extension, as well as with ideas of fun activities and places to visit.
There’s so much to see in the Dolomites and we want to make the most of our time there. So be prepared to run between 15-35 km per day, on our running days. However, if you’re tired or want to do a shorter route, we can create some adjusted options and you’ll be guided by someone in our team.
Most restaurants in Italy offer vegetarian and vegan options. But if you have any special requests or intolerances please let us know in advance.
This camp is mainly dedicated to runners. However, we can offer two spots for non running friends, with a 10% discount from the regular price (either early bird or full price, depending on the booking date). First booked, first served.
